HEAD OF THE HOOCH

On November 5th and 6th MBRC competed at the Head of the Hooch, which was held in Chattanooga, TN.

Alejandra Alonso: 2016 US Rowing Club Nationals

One of our own, Alejandra Alonso, competed in the 2016 US Rowing Club National Championships, which were held July 13-17, 2016, on Harsha Lake in Bethel, Ohio.

The semifinals classified the 21 with best time, where the compatriot joined with the second best (7:37.610), two seconds after the best time (Grace Burt, and Quad Cities).

5- Julia Lonchar
6- Emerson Solms

First place was won by Julia Lonchar, Vesper (8:01.431), while compatriot was second (8:11.378). The third place was for Emerson Solms (8:14:557).

Alonso competed again that Saturday, in the Senior category/Elite, but could not advance to the final as she placed 5th in the semi-final.

MBRC is cheering Alejandra on as she is one of the Paraguayan representatives at the World Junior and U23 rowing, which will take place August 21 to 28 in the Netherlands. Ale will compete in the 1X Senior B female category.

US Rowing Youth National Championship

Miami Beach Rowing Club competed at US Rowing Youth National Championship this past weekend, June 10th -12th, at Mercer Lake, NJ.

The boys lightweight double was Alex Martinez and Jules Kramer. They won their heat and came in third in the semi-final, qualifying for the A final which they came in fourth place by 2/100 of a second. The girls quad was Isabella and Olivia Larder, Margherita Tonini and Amanda Delaplaine; they placed fifth in their heat.

US ROWING SOUTHEAST YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP

On May 14th -15th MBRC competed to qualify for Us Rowing Youth National Championships, which will be held in Mercer Lake, NJ.

Congratulations to all the boats for a great competition. Our rowers brought home the following medals:

Girls U17 8+ (bronze)
Boys U17 8+ (silver)
Boys U17 4x (bronze)
Boys Lightweight 2x (gold)
Girls Youth 4x (silver)

FSRA SWEEP STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

On the weekend of April 30th – May 1st MBRC participated in the FSRA Sweep State Championships. The two-day state championship was held at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota. MBRC competed in 10 events and 5 of our boats won medals, including:

Girls 1st Varsity 4+ – 2nd (silver)
Girls 2nd Varsity 4+ – 3rd (bronze)
Boys lightweight 4+ – 2nd (Silver)
Boys Freshman 4+ – 1st (Gold)
Boys Lightweight 8+ – 2nd (silver)

Our other boat entries were extremely competitive and demonstrated the potential to be future winners.

FSRA SCULLING STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

On the weekend of April 16th –17th MBRC participated in the FSRA Sculling State Championships. The two-day state championship was held at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota. MBRC qualified 15 of the 17 participating entrees to the Finals, which were held on Sunday, April 17th. Our Juniors brought home 8 Medals, including:

Miami International Regatta

On April 10th 2016 MBRC partook in the Miami International Regatta, hosted by the Miami Rowing Club in Key Biscayne. Our rowers brought home over 20 medals including:

O.A.R.S. Invitational

This Past weekend MBRC Participated in the O.A.R.S. Invitational, held at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake. The competition was some of the best we’ve seen this season, forcing all crews to rise to the challenge. MBRC juniors brought home 8 medals including:

Bronze in the Men’s Ltwt 8+

2016 Sarasota Invitational Regatta

On February 27th and 28th, MBRC Participated in the 7th annual two-day Sarasota Invitational Regatta with more than 1,500 athletes and 67 clubs. The regatta was held at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida, the site of the 2017 World Rowing Championships.

Congratulations to all of MBRC racers! The team finished 3rd place overall with a total of 27 medals: 14 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze!

2016 C.R.A.S.H. – B. Sprints

On Sunday February 28th Alejandra Alonso represented MBRC during this year’s World Indoor Rowing Championship on the Agganis Arena at Boston University. Her hard work and focus landed her 31st place out of 155 racers on the Open Women Category.

2016 Novice Regatta

MBRC made a strong showing at the 2016 Novice Regatta in Orlando, Florida. The team had a total of 10 entries, and 6 brought home medals. Coach Rob Saner’s novice men’s team medaled in every event they entered, a great way to start off the season! Both the men’s and women’s team have great motivation heading into another week of training before the Sarasota Invitational.

2016 Southern Erg Sprints Indoor Competition

February 13th, 2016 @ Melbourne, FL

This year’s 33rd Annual Southern Sprints Indoor Rowing Competition marked another massive event, with over 1,400 athletes racing in just under 1900 seats.
MBRC won Second Place in overall Club Points (234 points) and had many highlights during the day, including the following:

  • Luis Amaro won 1st place on Adaptive Men 1,000m (Arms/Shoulders)
  • Helman Roman won 1st place on Adaptive Men 1,000m (Trunk/Arms)

23rd Head of the Indian Creek Regatta

We kicked off racing season in the fall with our own Head of the Indian Creek Regatta. We’re very proud that our club can host such a large race and the feedback from the teams was very positive.
