Classes begin each day at 9:30AM and conclude between 11:30AM and Noon. Both weekends will consist of land training and time on the water. Attending all classes is important.

You must be able to swim and stay afloat for 10 minutes in deep water. If you are unable to do this, or uncomfortable in the water, then this class is NOT for you. You are also required to sign a liability waiver. Participants between the age of 14 and 17 are welcome, but a parent or guardian must also sign the waiver. Please check with a physician before starting any workout program.

You will learn the fundamentals of rowing and receive instruction in sculling (rowing with two oars, one on each side of the boat) and sweep (team rowing with one oar per person). Emphasis will be on basic technique, boat-handling skills, safety rules and terminology. Please note that the large boats are heavy and must be carried to/from the dock by class participants.

We recommend that you wear cycling or running shorts and a T-shirt that fits closely to your body so that it does not interfere with the rowing motion. We also recommend that you wear aqua socks (Publix sells them). Please bring cool water, sunscreen and a hat to class each day.

The cost of the session is $195. Payment and registration are required in advance to secure a space. Checks should be made out to the Ronald W. Shane Watersports Center. We also accept Visa/Mastercard. If you wish to pay by credit card, simply complete and return the registration form with your credit card information. Please bring your credit card to class on the first day. Be sure to note which session you will be attending on the registration form as well as your email address.

Space is limited. We recommend that you sign up as soon as possible. We will call or email you to confirm receipt of your registration. Fees are non-refundable within the first 3 days of the first class.

After the class you are encouraged, but not obligated to join the club. Throughout the class current club members will assist you. Adult club membership (ages 18 and up) is $950 a year or $85 per month. This includes full facility use, all boat use, and one coaching (group) session per week. There is also a one-time initiation fee of $150. This fee is used for used for capital improvements and purchases (i.e. boats & equipment). We accept cash, check, and visa/master card.
